Casa Áurea
Casa Áurea is in Son Vida, an area of Palma known for its exclusivity.
It’s situated on a unique plot, nestled on one of the few remaining active torrents in the area: the Sant Magí torrent. With its two steep slopes, this natural feature has been ingeniously incorporated into the design, creating a truly one-of-a-kind property.
The design of Casa Áurea is a bold departure from the norm.
Instead of a towering structure, we’ve created a three-floor, more than 30m long building emphasising horizontality. The elevation is composed of ribbons that wrap around the facades, marking the height of the windows and becoming the railings and parapets, which house the golden slats of the façades.
From the outside access, the project develops downwards. From the street, the house appears to be on the ground floor. The golden colour marks the entrances in the fence and the house’s main gate.
After crossing the threshold, we appear in a double-height space from which we can appreciate the views of the pine grove and the hillside that seemed hidden from the street.
Here, the house reveals the protagonist of the project for the first time: the surroundings. The presence of the hillside and the stream, as well as the green vegetation, become the main element and all the views of Casa Áurea are focused here.
Áurea is conceived as a project with few materials, in which the colours gold, walnut, natural stone, and vegetation’s green are organised to shape all the spaces in the home.

Áurea is a project of contrasts, with an extensive programme and large dimensions, with nods to the classic and the modern.
It is a discreet house on the outside but opens up to the stream, making it part of it and turning its most peculiar element into its greatest virtue.
